Deaton Named New Lewisville Learning Center Principal
LEWISVILLE, Texas – Lewisville ISD (LISD) announced June 3 the appointment of Angie Deaton as the new Principal of Lewisville Learning Center, effective July 1.
“I am so excited to join the Lewisville Learning Center family,” Deaton said. “I look forward to working with the campus staff to continue creating an exciting and meaningful learning environment for all of the students in LISD.”
Deaton has been in LISD for 14 years, spending the past 10 as an Assistant Principal at The Colony High School (TCHS). She has helped with the successful development of students, staff and community to create a path of readiness for the future. Deaton has served in roles of campus curriculum, mentoring and instructional coaching. She also spent four years at TCHS teaching Speech and Debate, as well as assisting with the Peer Assistance & Leadership (PAL) and Student Council groups.
Deaton taught Speech and Theater for two years at Sam Houston Middle School in Irving ISD. Before entering the education field, Deaton worked as a marketing manager at the NCH Corporation and as an accounts manager at Associates Financial Corporation of North America.
Deaton is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Phi Delta Kappa Honor Society and Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. She holds Secondary Speech, Secondary Theater, ILD/ILT, PDAS and Texas Principal certifications.
Deaton was an institutional member of the LISD Association for Supervision and Curriculum for five years, and a finalist for LISD Assistant Principal of the Year in 2013.
“Ms. Deaton has an impeccable reputation as a long time Assistant Principal of The Colony High School,” LISD Central Zone Leader Andy Plunkett said. “She has a proven track record of working with at-risk youth and has made it her passion in life. She is known for her strong relationships with students and parents, as well as her ability to communicate and help solve problems. She is also adored by her teachers as an administrator who always supports them in and out of the classroom. Ms. Deaton is truly a proven leader.”
Deaton is a graduate of Kennesaw State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. She earned her Masters of Education degree from the University of North Texas.
Deaton is the daughter of James and Melanie Deaton. She has one sister, Michelle Hagmann, a brother-in-law, Mike Hagmann, and four nieces/nephews who have all graduated from TCHS – Josh Burkham (2010), Hannah Burkham (2011), Hunter Hagmann (2012) and Hayden Hagmann (2016).
