Elementary Dual Language Website
The goal of the Elementary Dual Language program is to provide a research based, instructional model for second language acquisition to native Spanish speaking students who are acquiring English as a second language. LISD also offers Dual Language opportunities to Non-Native Spanish speaking students to learn Spanish as a Second Language with their native Spanish speaking peers. The One-Way and Two-Way Dual Language Models promote additive bilingualism and biliteracy and establishes high expectations for achievement for all students in both English and Spanish. Lewisville ISD offers a middle school program for continued language progression in Spanish. The following provides a brief description of what middle school courses are currently offered in Spanish. Students who enroll in these courses have prior experience with the Spanish language, usually as a native/heritage Spanish speaker or uninterrupted participation in an elementary Dual Language/Spanish Immersion program. Participating schools include: DeLay MS, Durham MS, Griffin MS, Hedrick MS, Huffines MS, Killian MS, and Lakeview MS.

Lewisville ISD (LISD) provides the opportunity for students seeking biliteracy and bilingualism (English/Spanish) through the implementation of a Spanish Immersion program of World Language instruction for Kinder-5th grades. Participating schools include: Hicks ES and Wellington ES. In a Spanish Immersion program, the majority of the students in the class are learning Spanish. Students are taught core content in both English and Spanish. Students receive a 50/50 ratio of instruction in Spanish and English by two highly qualified teachers. Teachers in the Spanish Immersion program follow the LISD curriculum. Students participating will have access to all special programming based on student needs. Transportation is not provided for students coming from other school attendance zones.
