Welcome to the library! Our library is an active hub for students' learning and exploration. From research to reading to self-selection of books, students are at the center of what we do. Classes come to the library every week for information skills instruction, checkout, and story-times. Students can also come on their own to meet individual needs. Technology is a large component of our program. We work on digital citizenship lessons and practice skills on a library set of Chrome books.
Mrs. Jarrett has been the librarian at Morningside since 2006. She has two daughters who both attended school here and now go to Griffin Middle School and The Colony High School. Mrs. Jarrett went to UTA for her bachelor’s degree and then got her Masters in Library Science at UNT. Books and children are two of Mrs. Jarrett’s favorite things.
Mrs. Keiser is new to the library this year. Mrs. Jarrett is so excited to have her here. Her two daughters also attended Morningside and now are at Griffin Middle School and Texas A&M. Some of our older students may remember Mrs. Keiser because she was a long-term sub when they were in kindergarten or first grade. Mrs. Keiser loves books and loves to see students reading books they enjoy.
Mrs. Jarrett and Mrs. Keiser love books and want to do everything possible to encourage the love of reading. In addition to seeing our classes each week, we work to get new books added to the library. Teachers can get resources from the library on topics they are studying. The LISD librarians can share books amongst themselves so that teachers can have even more resources that they may need.
