Morningside Elementary is an exceptional school created by a community of caring staff members, students and families. We use an eclectic mix of character education programs including nationally recognized Rachel’s Challenge along with the school’s annual theme. Every week, students are recognized for demonstrating positive character traits in the school-wide “Mustang Stampede”, our Friday morning pep rally. We use Positive Discipline and Love & Logic to support students in having opportunities for critical thinking and problem solving skills within the context of making choices. Our Morningside community encourages respect for every individual in order to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment. The counselor, Mrs. Debbi Plemons, utilizes Steps to Respect and Second Step guidance curriculum to teach these concepts to the students during bi-weekly whole class guidance lessons. Mrs. Plemons also provides small group and individual counseling for students that need additional support for social-emotional growth. Parents and guardians may contact Mrs. Plemons to consult about challenges at home or school including; academic, behavioral or other difficulties. We are happy that you entrust your children to us every day and are pleased you are part of the Morningside community.
