    FMHS wins third Number Sense Tournament
    .
    Flower Mound High School won its third consecutive Number Sense Tournament earlier this month. All five high schools were represented at the district's annual mental math competition.

    The winning FMHS team is comprised of Derek Olsson, David Li and DJ Brown. Derek Olsson was the individual winner with a total of 186 points of the team's total 326 points. Derek received a $250 scholarship through the Lewisville Education Foundation for his achievement.

    Hebron High School took second place.

    Jackson Early Childhood Center hosts Trike-A-Thon

    The Lillie J. Jackson Early Childhood Center will hold a Trike-A-Thon on April 10 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Jackson students will bring their tricycles to school and ride them through the hallways to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

    If anyone would like to sponsor a student participating in the Trike-A-Thon, please contact the Jackson Early Childhood Center at 972-350-4400. Donations can be made according to laps ridden or a flat donation.

    Bluebonnet Elementary to hold blood drive

    Bluebonnet Elementary will host a blood drive on April 3 from 1 - 7 p.m. in the school's gymnasium. Walk-ins and donors with appointments will be welcome until 6:30 p.m.

    Donors will receive a free T-shirt and be eligible to win a $100 gas card. To schedule an appointment to donate blood, contact Letty Newswanger at smmbrain2@yahoo.com or call 972-691-9991.

    Hebron High School Football team, booster club hosts Lift-A-Thon

    The Hebron High School Football team and booster club will host a Lift-A-Thon on April 24 at 6 p.m. at the school's football complex, located at 4207 Plano Parkway in Carrollton.

    Proceeds from the Lift-A-Thon will benefit the football team through the efforts of the team's booster club. For more information or to make a donation, contact Hebron Football Booster board member Kristen Gray at e.gray@tx.rr.com or at 972-492-0403.

    Marcus Orchestra to hold annual plant sale

    The Marcus High School Orchestra will hold its annual plant sale on the weekends of March 29 - 30, April 5 - 6 and 12 - 13 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the school.

    Plants are sold by the flat for $14 and $17. For more information, visit the orchestra's website at www.marcusorchestra.com.

    LHS Choral Department holds annual Celebration of Music

    The Lewisville High School Choral Department will host its annual Celebration of Music on March 29 from noon to 5 p.m. in the school's east parking lot. There will be food, live music, karaoke, games, a dunk tank and more. Proceeds will benefit the LHS Choral Department.

    LISD Special Education Department to hold monthly Early Education Screenings

    The LISD Special Education Department will hold Early Education screenings on March 27 - 28 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. to identify children living in the district who may have a disability. Screening times will be assigned by appointment.

    A child who needs to be screened is one who does not appear to act, see, hear, speak, understand or learn as others of his/her age. The tests include vision, hearing, motor, language and learning tasks. For more information and to schedule an appointment, call 469-713-5203.

    Old Settlers LEAP class wins state honors
    The fifth-grade LEAP class at Old Settlers Elementary won first place out of all fifth-grade teams at the annual Texas fifth/sixth-grade Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl.

    In addition to their first place achievement, they are ranked second in the state for fifth- and sixth-grade combined for Thinking Cap teams. The students will now move on to national competition in May.
