    .
    LISD's Board of Trustees called for a Bond Election on Saturday, May 10 with two propositions totaling $776 million.

    The package addresses growth, equity for the district's high schools, technology and long-term capital improvements through 2014, which is two years away from when the district project build-out.

    Board of Trustees election to be held May 10

    During their Feb. 11 meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to hold the regularly scheduled Board of Trustees election on Saturday, May 10.

    Places six and seven are open for election. Both incumbents, Amber Fulton and Carol Kyer, have filed for re-election. Kyer is seeking her fourth term and Fulton is seeking her second term.

    Candidates who are interested in filing to run for the Board of Trustees must submit their application to the LISD Administrative Offices by 5 p.m. on March 11.

    Central Elementary calls for memorabilia

    Central Elementary is planning a 50th anniversary celebration and is seeking help collecting Central Elementary memorabilia from years past.

    All memorabilia will be returned after the event on May 8. The school is especially interested in photos, yearbooks and other items from Central's beginning years, but all memorabilia is welcome.

    If you are interested in loaning your memorabilia to Central, please contact Molly Fox in the Communications Office at foxm@lisd.net or at 469-948-8075.

    LISD hosts annual monopoly tournament

    LISD will hold its annual Monopoly Game Tournament on Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Lina Milliken Education Center, 2103 Savage Lane in Lewisville.

    The event is sponsored by Hasbro Games and area businesses with proceeds benefitting the LISD Adult and Community Education Department's literacy programs.

    Participants are classified by two categories - adults (those who are 18 and older) and students (children ages 8 - 17). Each entrant must pay $10 to participate and will receive a goody bag and be eligible to win door prizes. For a registration form, click here.     LISD Council of PTAs to hold Founder's Day Dinner

    The LISD Council of PTAs will hold its annual Founder's Day Dinner on Feb. 28 from 7 - 9:30 p.m. at the Marriott DFW Airport North. A limited number of tickets are still available for $20 advance purchase. Please RSVP by Feb. 20 to Michelle McDaniel at foundersday@lisdpta.org.

    Destination ImagiNation Regional Board to hold raffle

    Destination ImagiNation's (DI) Trinity Valley North Central Regional Board is selling raffle tickets to benefit deserving high school seniors who are current DI team members or have previously participated in DI or Odyssey of the Mind programs.

    Raffle prizes include an iPod, two Southwest Airlines tickets, a round of golf for four at the Lantana Golf Club and a $600 spa package from Medical Spa 407. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six tickets. Winners do not need to be present for the drawing. To buy tickets, e-mail Robin Napier at napierr@lisd.net or call 972-350-3698.

    Destination ImagiNation is a school-sponsored program for students in grades K - 12. Students work in small teams for five months to solve challenges involving theater, art, improvisation, technology and engineering.

    FMHS Rosettes to perform annual Spring Show

    The Flower Mound High School Rosettes will perform their annual Spring Show at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 - March 1 in the school's auditorium.

    Advance tickets sales are going on now and can be purchased at the school from noon to 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general seating and $10 for reserved seating. Tickets will also be sold at the door prior to each performance at $8 for general seating and $12 for reserved seating.

    Bluebonnet Elementary to hold scrapbook night

    Bluebonnet Elementary's PTA is hosting a Scrapbooking Crop on March 1 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the school's cafeteria.

    The cost to attend is $15 (lunch included) or $20 for attendees wanting to stay until 10 p.m. (pizza dinner included). The proceeds will benefit the Bluebonnet PTA Scholarship Fund. To reserve a spot, contact Holly Ware at hsware92@hotmail.com.

    FMHS PTSO to hold Jaguar Auction

    The Flower Mound High School PTSO invites the community to attend its annual Jaguar Auction on Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the school.

    Money raised from the event will benefit seniors being recognized for having a minimum 107 GPA on a 120 scale, 40 hours of community service and no attendance or discipline problems.

    Tickets are $5 and include a packet of 12 tickets. These tickets can be placed in collection bags assigned to auction items from which a random winner will be selected.     Marcus receives award
    Marcus High School recently received the 2007 College Readiness Award from the ACT, Inc. - the organization that oversees the ACT standardized test.

    Marcus was recognized for outstanding utilization of the ACT, significantly increasing ACT composite scores over the past five years, increasing student participation in the ACT and improving college readiness.
