LISD bowls for scholars
The annual LISD Bowling for Scholars
Tournament will be held Jan. 26 at AMF Lanes
in Lewisville.
Proceeds from the tournament are used for
scholarships, teacher grants and PTA
programs. Each year the LISD Council of PTAs
awards two $500 scholarships to graduating
seniors at each LISD high school.
Registrants can sign up for one of three
bowling times; 9 - 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. - 1:30
p.m. or 2 - 4 p.m. The cost to participate
is $25 per adult and $20 per youth, which
includes a T - shirt. Trophies are awarded to
the top teams, as well as prizes for the
school with the most teams. There are also
door prizes and a prize for the best team name.

LISD students invited to participate in
essay contest
The Denton Area Alliance of Black School
Educators will host its annual Martin Luther
King, Jr. Essay Contest on Jan. 12 from 9
a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Fred Moore High School,
815 Crosstimbers in Denton.
All Denton County middle and high school
students who attend both the morning and
afternoon sessions will be eligible to submit
essays. Registration is due Jan. 11 at 3 p.m.
