Note: Due to the condition of some middle school football fields from today's rains, the football games between DeLay and Huffines Middle Schools and Shadow Ridge and Forestwood Middle Schools are canceled. All other outdoor games scheduled for today will be played. For additional questions, please contact your student's school.

  • LISD Committee drafts 2008-09 Calendar

    The LISD Calendar Committee recently drafted a 2008-09 school calendar based upon community input and the academic needs of students.

    From Oct. 5 - 14, the district solicited input from the community regarding Thanksgiving Break and the length of the school year. More than 60 percent of the responses did not want the school year to end during the second week of June.

    LISD campuses will observe Red Ribbon Week throughout the week.

    Hebron Band hosts golf tournament

    The Hebron High School Band will host its first golf tournament at Indian Creek Golf Course in Carrollton on Nov. 11 at noon. Funds raised from this event will help defray costs for the band to attend state and area competitions as well as help keep their instruments up to date.

    FMHS Orchestra to hold garage sale

    Flower Mound High School Orchestra and Orchestra Booster Club will hold a garage sale in the school's teachers' parking lot on Oct. 27 starting at 8 a.m.

    All proceeds will go toward funding the organization's trip to Chicago to perform at the annual Midwest Clinic, an international band and orchestra conference in December. The FMHS Orchestra will be the only high school orchestra from Texas performing at Midwest.

    Friday Night Live coming to Forestwood MS

    LISD has partnered with Friday Night Live and Communities for Kidz to host a night of supervised activities for all children in grades 3 - 9 on Nov. 9 and 16 from 7 - 11 p.m at Forestwood Middle School.

    Friday Night Live is a fun-filled program designed for kids in a safe environment. Football night will be the Nov. 9 theme. All kids wearing their favorite team jersey will be eligible to win a prize. On Nov. 16, there will be a treasure hunt, Fear Factor - style contest and an obstacle course.

    All Friday Night Live events have a live DJ, a light show, dance contests and gym activities. The cost for a child to attend the event is $10.     LHS names Hall of Fame inductees
    Lewisville High School has recently named their newest members of the campus' Hall of Fame.

    The three new inductees are: LISD Board of Trustees member Tommy Kim (Class of '87), retired navy serviceman and pilot John E. Whatley (Class of '52) and Kenneth Wells (class of '75), who is the minister of Northview Baptist Church minister and a Lewisville Police Department chaplain.

    The honorees will participate in the school's homecoming parade on Oct. 25 and be inducted into the Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Oct. 26 at 6:50 p.m.
