    Early Education screenings scheduled

LISD Special Education Department will conduct Early Education screenings on Jan. 25-26 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. to identify children residing in the district who may have a disability. Screening times will be assigned by appointment.

A child who needs to be screened is one who does not appear to act, see, hear, speak, understand or learn as others of his/her age. The tests include vision and hearing screening, as well as motor, language and learning tests.

Children who have a disability are eligible to receive instructional and related services from age three or from birth if visually or hearing impaired.

If you have a child who is suspected of having a disability, and is at least 2 years, 9 months old, call the Special Education office at 469-713-5203 for an appointment.

If the child is younger than the required age, but you are concerned, one may call the Special Education office or one of the following Early Childhood Intervention programs:

Infant and Toddler Intervention Program of North Texas - serving the remainder of LISD, 940-536-1192.

It is acceptable to have a babysitter or other family member bring your child to the screening; however, a signed consent form must be received prior to the screening time.

Forms are available at the Special Education office located at 400 W. Main St. in Lewisville, in the event you cannot accompany your child to the screening.
