Bowling for Scholars deadline extended
Due to an overwhelming response to the LISD
Council of PTA's Bowling
for Scholars Tournament, LISD has added an extra
bowling time.
Additional lanes are now available at 2:30 p.m.
on Jan. 20. All registration forms must be
received by noon on Jan. 17.

Early Education screenings scheduled
LISD Special Education Department will
conduct Early Education screenings on Jan.
25-26 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. to identify children
residing in the district who may have a
disability. Screening times will be assigned by
appointment.
A child who needs to be screened is one who does
not appear to act, see, hear, speak, understand
or learn as others of his/her age. The tests
include vision and hearing screening, as well as
motor, language and learning tests.
Children who have a disability are eligible to
receive instructional and related services from
age three or from birth if visually or hearing
impaired.
If you have a child who is suspected of having a
disability, and is at least 2 years, 9 months
old, call the Special Education office at
469-713-5203 for an appointment.
If the child is younger than the required age,
but you are concerned, one may call the Special
Education office or one of the following Early
Childhood Intervention programs:
Special Care and Career Services -
serving the LISD north Carrollton area,

ECI of Dallas Metrocare Services -
serving LISD students in far west Bluebonnet

Infant and Toddler Intervention Program of

It is acceptable to have a babysitter or
other family member bring your child to the
screening; however, a signed consent form must be
received prior to the screening time.
Forms are available at the Special Education
office located at 400 W. Main St. in Lewisville,
in the event you cannot accompany your child to
the screening.

TAKS test
If anyone wishes to review the concepts tested
on the exit level science TAKS test, click here.
Diagnostic
tests are also available to see
areas in which a student need extra preparation.
This site also provides online tutorials to
improve student learning and performance on the
exit level science TAKS test. This resource is
available free of charge.
Community invited to review textbooks
LISD would like to invite the community to
review secondary mathematics textbooks currently
up for adoption for grades 6 - 12.
The books are available for review on Jan. 22 -
25 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in Room 104 at the
Lina Milliken Education Center located at 2103
Savage Road in Lewisville. Please direct

Masonic Lodge holds logo contest
The Lewisville Masonic Lodge is holding a logo
contest for students in grades 10-12 who attend
public, private or home-schools in the
Lewisville ISD area as part of the group's 150th
anniversary.

Monopoly tournament scheduled for February
LISD's Adult and Community Education Office will
host a Monopoly tournament on Feb. 24, which
will be sponsored by Hasbro games and area
businesses. Proceeds will benefit adult literacy
programs through the LISD Adult and Community
Education.
Individuals or groups are invited to play.
Prizes will be awarded to first place winners.
No tournament experience is necessary.

TCHS Drumline to perform at Texas Tornado
Hockey games
The
Colony High School Drumline will perform at
the Texas Tornado hockey games on Jan. 18 - 19
at 7 p.m.
Discounted tickets are available online when
entering the coupon code "drums" here.
Tickets are $15 and include a hot dog, chips,
and a Dr. Pepper product of your choice.
Proceeds from the ticket sales will help the
drumline replace worn equipment.
Hedrick Elementary to host shrimp night
Hedrick
Elementary will host its fifth annual shrimp
night on Jan. 25 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. as a
fundraiser to send fifth-grade students to Camp
Goddard.
Tickets are only available prior to the event
and are $6 for adults and $4 for children ages
6-11. All tickets will be delivered Jan. 23.
Tickets will be at the Will Call area for those
purchased through non-campus sales.

TCHS Basketball to host elementary night
The
Colony High School's boys basketball team
will host
an elementary night on Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. for the
junior varsity game and at 7:30 p.m. for the
varsity game.
Players and coaches will be available to
autograph students' programs after the game.
Donald to host cyber safety program
Donald
Elementary's PTA will host a cyber safety
program today, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. in the
school's cafeteria.
Officer Paul Aleman of the Texas Attorney
General's Office will offer internet safety tips
for parents and children. All are welcome to

Homestead to hold spaghetti dinner, silent
auction
Homestead
Elementary will hold
its fourth annual spaghetti dinner and silent
auction on Jan. 26 from 6 - 8:30 p.m.
The event will be Hawaiian-themed. Tickets
are now available for advance purchase only for
$5 per person or $25 per family. For more

The Lewisville
High School Band Booster Club will meet

annual mini dance camp on Feb. 3 for girls ages
5 through eighth-grade. Registration forms are
